This week’s edition of Weird News features the Tree Man, who was tree-like roots growing all over his body, a new game show that matches U.S. women with immigrant suitors, a pie attack on a shopping mall Santa, and a undie-eating dog.

Indonesian ‘Tree Man’ has Bark-like Growths

An Indonesian man suffering from a rare skin condition that causes his body to be covered with tree-like growths may soon get help from an American doctor, according to a report in the British newspaper the Telegraph.  Dede, 35, who has gnarled growths sprouting from his hands and feet, has baffled medical experts since the warty “roots” began appearing after he injured himself as a teenager.

This has to be the weirdest story I’ve seen yet.  Look at those hands!  If you follow the link above there’s a video of him as well.

Who Wants to Marry a U.S. Citizen?

A new reality series, currently in production, aims at created marriages between U.S. women and male immigrants with temporary visas.  The show is very similar to ‘The Dating Game.’  The female asks the three men various questions and then, based on their responses, decides which of the three to marry.

According to the show’s host, Angelo Gonzales, the show makes it clear to all contestants that it does not guarantee marriage or legal status, but will pay for a wedding party and honeymoon should a marriage result from the show.

“We’re just out to play matchmaker,” says Gonzales. “There are thousands of U.S. citizens seeking a spouse, and just as many immigrants seeking the same. So we want to make it a win-win situation for all involved.”

Santa Claus Pied in the Face

A Montana college student has been charged with assault after smashing a pumpkin pie in the face of a shopping mall Santa.  The student apparently yelled out, “What do you think of that, Santa?” after committing his alleged assault.  The man videotaped the encounter and planned to use it in an upcoming film. 

He said that after the pie ruckus, he expected to approach Santa for a signature on a film-release form, but police arrived first.

“It’s a good thing he didn’t wait around, because I think Santa would have laid him out,” said Sgt. Travis Welsh of the Missoula Police Department.

A dog with a penchant for eating underwear has undergone emergency surgery to remove his latest meal from his stomach.
Taffy, an 18-month-old springer spaniel who lives with owners Eubie and Sharon Saayman in  Staffordshire, northern England, underwent an operation to remove the 40th pair of knickers he had scoffed.

The story goes on to say that the dog has also enjoyed the following delicious meals:  300 socks, 15 pairs of shoes, and a key ring!  I think the dog should be taken away from these people.  How do you let this happen hundreds of times.  Maybe it’s time to keep the dog away from the shoes and socks, don’t you think?  One of our dogs ate one of the Babitos’s socks when he was a newborn and almost gagged on it before he threw it up.  It was disgusting.  Now we’re careful to make sure nothing like that is ever within their reach.
