Wednesday Spotlight: Great Blog Posts From Around the Internet (Version 12)

The best posts I’ve seen over the past few weeks:

  • Last, by Black Hockey Jesus - If this one doesn’t bring tears to your eyes and make you want to go to where your children/parents/loved one are RIGHT NOW, I don’t know what else would.
  • Don’t Let Them Die, by Sweet Juniper- Discussion of the auto company bailout and why it’s important to the people of Michigan to save the Big Three automakers.  Also, don’t miss his Detroit pictures….haunting and sad.
  • My Friend The Bee, by Bejewell - A brave bee holds on to Bejewell’s windshield through high speeds and treacherous turns.  Bejewell begins to relate to his struggles with her own.  Will the bee make it?
  • That Whole Mama Bear Instinct? Yeah. Totally True, by For A Different Kind of Girl - FADKOG talks about how her sweet son has been bullied at school for the past two months and the effects it’s had on him.  Bullies suck!

My Top Five Boyhood Crushes

Sensibly Sassy, in her latest post, lists her top five girlhood crushes and it got me thinking back to those days of late adolescence.  Who were my top five boyhood crushes?  At first, it was difficult to even think that far back, but then they started coming to me.

Here are my top five boyhood crushes, without commentary.  Who did you have a crush on back in the day?

1.  Justine Bateman (Mallory Keaton on ‘Family Ties’)

2.  Valerie Bertinelli (Valerie Cooper Royer on ‘One Day At a Time’)

3.  Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke on ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’)

4.  Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles)

5.  Jennifer Beals (Flashdance)

And how are they holding up today?  I think they all still look great.  I guess I did a good job of picking my crushes.

Here’s recent pictures of each of my boyhood crushes:

Watch Any TV Show For Free…and It’s All Legal…on Hulu.com

I just discovered this website tonight, but I thought I’d share it with all of you. It’s called Hulu, and it allows you to watch nearly any TV show, in its entirety with limited commercial interruption, and it’s all free. And I’m not just talking about the new shows that you can watch on the network websites, I’m talking about most old-school shows too!

I just got done watching an episode of Silver Spoons. Well, I watched it until I saw the cool train in the house. What other classic shows do they have? Here’s a list, for starters:

  • The A-Team
  • Fantasy Island
  • Arrested Development
  • Doogie Howser, MD
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Charlie’s Angels
  • Bewitched
  • The White Shadow
  • Miami Vice
  • The Dick Van Dyke Show
  • Fame

and too many others to list.

They also have many of the current shows, including:

  • The Office
  • Heroes
  • Fringe
  • House
  • Family Guy
  • The Daily Show
  • The Colbert Report
  • It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
  • Saturday Night Live
  • The Simpsons
  • The Tonight Show
  • Monk
  • Cops
  • many, many more

It looks like a great site to check out the new shows and also catch up on shows you haven’t seen in years.  You can’t download the shows to your computer.  You have to watch them via streaming video, but the picture quality is very good.

The site also makes it very easy to embed the videos into your site, as you can see below and in my sidebar, where the Hulu widget is showing the last five episodes of The Office from last season.

If you try it, let me know what you think.  And for those of you dying to see the Silver Spoons train, here’s a short clip of it:  Yes, also, did I mention it lets you clip small sections of the TV shows to embed them into your blog?  Too cool, huh?
