The Babito is Turning Three Soon

I can’t get my head around the fact that The Babito is going to turn three in three short months. What happened to my little baby boy?

hitman

Time goes by so fast. He’s gone from a helpless infant to a bright, sensitive, hilarious, scheming, daredevil of a little boy.

One good thing about him getting older is that the quality of his toys (under the Daddy-friendly categorization) keeps getting better. I’m looking forward to when he fits into the age category for electric racetracks and video games. (He already loves to play “Pocket God” on my iPhone.)

What age-appropriate toys does a toy-loving Daddy need to know about? Please share them in the comments!

Also, we’re trying to figure out what to do for his birthday. We had a huge pool party at our house for his first birthday, complete with catered food and a clown. For his second birthday, we had a smaller party at My Gym.

Right now we’re leaning toward either having another party at My Gym or having a smaller party at our house. Barney may even show up if we have a party at home.

What have you done for a toddler’s birthday? Any great ideas out there?

New Feature: Daddy Dan Forums

There’s an all-new feature here at Daddy Dan – the Daddy Dan forums. There’s a link to the forums up above in the header. I hope the forums become a vibrant discussion area for conversations about parenting, Disneyland, and any other topic we’d all like to discuss.

I’d say the forum is in beta mode right now. I’m still playing with it to see all it can do, so please help me out, go into the forum and leave a comment or new post. I don’t believe registration is required, but registrating will make it much easier to leave a comment when you return.

Thanks!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend…

Thursday we spent the day at my parents’ house with my parents, grandma, and my brother and his family.  We played a lot of Wii.  We had fun making characters for the games.  We made everyone in the family, plus some additional characters.  I made a spot-on Michael Jackson.  Once you create characters you can use them in the game.  My grandma thought it was hilarious to see herself racing cars and playing tennis.

Friday my wife and I took the Babito to Disneyland for a bit.  We went on It’s a Small World, and luckily the theme song was only a small part of the ride because they have it decorated for Christmas and play Christmas songs through most of the ride.  It hasn’t stopped Babito from constantly singing the Small World song, although it’s cute when he sings it.  I wanted to take him on The Matterhorn but the line was huge.  He kept asking me to take him on “The Mountain” but we never got on it.  The line was shorter at night, but I thought it might be too scary for him in the dark so we decided to wait.  I don’t want him to be afraid of it.  We also saw the Disneyland Christmas Parade, which Babito loved.

Saturday my wife’s family came to our house for a late Thanksgiving.  We once again played a lot of Wii, which was fun.  The Wii is a great family/party activity as it gets everyone involved.

Sunday we started decorating the house for Christmas.  My wife has accumulated a TON of Christmas decorations.  There are many storage boxes stacked up in our living room right now, but she’s made a good start.  I put up the lights on the house.  We went old-school this year with the big C-9 multi-colored bulbs like these:

We had these kind of lights on our house growing up, so they bring back some great memories.  I plan on adding more to the bushes and trees during the week.

We also brought out our singing Santa Claus.

He’s 5-feet tall and sings Christmas songs while he dances back and forth.  He also comes with a microphone so you can make him talk.  At first, Babito was scared of him, but he warmed up to him by the end of the night.  He used the microphone to make Santa Claus sing, you guessed it, It’s A Small World, over and over again.  :-)

And how was your Thanksgiving weekend???

Wii Like to Play With Our Wii

We got a Wii over the weekend.  I’ve thought about picking one up for a while, but I’d never seen them in stock.  A few weeks ago, my wife told me that she wanted a Wii Fit for Christmas, unaware that you need a Wii to use a Wii Fit.  We found a Wii at Best Buy and bought it and yesterday I found a Wii Fit at Wal Mart so I bought that too.  I got the last one in stock!

We hooked it up the other night and played Wii Sports, which comes with the Wii.  It’s a lot of fun.  Wii Sports has tennis, bowling, golf, baseball, and boxing.  I tried bowling first and bowled a 110 game.  It actually feels like you’re really bowling.  My wife bowled a 205 game her first try!  I told her it was definitely beginner’s luck!  =)

We haven’t tried the Wii Fit yet.  (No, I’m not making her wait until Christmas to open it up, plus I want to try the snowboarding game on the Wii Fit!)  The Wii Fit has over 40 different activities, including strength training, aerobics, yoga, and fun sports games like skiing and snowboarding.  It also keeps track of your weight and BMI (body mass index) and tracks your progress.  I can’t wait to start using it and I’ll write a full review once we’ve had some experience with it.

Do you have a Wii?  Tell me what you like about it and also let me know what games you like the best, as right now we only have the game that came with it.

Do you want to win a Wii and Wii Fit for FREE?  My good friend Katie at La Petite Chic is giving one away to one lucky reader.  All you need to do is leave a comment on THIS POST to be entered to win!  Good luck!
