Enjoy Each Moment
As I was looking at my stats seeing what people are searching for and what they’ve been led to on my blog. I found an old post that I had previously forgotten about but read again with great interest now that The Babito has been growing up so fast. You can read the whole post (and excerpt) here, but I’d like to share one particularly poignant excerpt here. The writer is Anna Quindlen.
But the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this (raising children). I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.

awww thats sweet and so true. which is why i photograph EVERYTHING. lol helps me remember.
Becky: You do photograph everything, don’t you! You’ll be so happy you did down the road. I try to take as many pictures as I can too. I’ve been bad with videotaping though. I need to start doing that a LOT more.
