New Feature: Daddy Dan Forums

There’s an all-new feature here at Daddy Dan – the Daddy Dan forums. There’s a link to the forums up above in the header. I hope the forums become a vibrant discussion area for conversations about parenting, Disneyland, and any other topic we’d all like to discuss.

I’d say the forum is in beta mode right now. I’m still playing with it to see all it can do, so please help me out, go into the forum and leave a comment or new post. I don’t believe registration is required, but registrating will make it much easier to leave a comment when you return.

Thanks!

Another Change to My Theme

Yes, I’ve made yet another change to my theme.

It’s a little messed up right now.  It still needs some tweaking and I need to figure out how to use all the features available, so bear with me.

Also, let me know what you think of it.

Thanks!

Updates to The Blog

Sorry, but I won’t be posting my “Best of The Office” until sometime tomorrow or over the weekend. I didn’t get a chance to watch it yet because The Babito decided that he didn’t want to go to sleep until 10:30 tonight (yep, one of those nights). By the time I finally had a little time to myself I decided to work on the layout of the blog instead of watching The Office. So, how was it? Don’t be specific. :-)

I made several changes (hopefully improvements!) to the blog, including:

  1. Moving the left-hand sidebar next to the one on the right.  I think it makes the site look a little cleaner.  Let me know what you think.  I could easily move it back to the left if I get a huge backlash from you all.  ;-)
  2. I added a new ‘Contact Me’ link at the top.  If you click on it, a comment box will open up where you can directly send me an e-mail.  It’s a nice feature because it doesn’t show my e-mail address, so I don’t have to worry as much about getting a bunch of spam mail.  If you’re using Wordpress, you can get the plug-in here:  C-FormsII.  I don’t know if it’s available for other blogging platforms.
  3. I also added gravatar support to the comments section.  Click on the comments of a post and you’ll see that some of you have gravatars and some of you don’t.  It’s VERY easy to assign gravatars to your e-mail addresses.  Just go to http://en.gravatar.com/ Come on!  Just do it!  Be one of the cool kids!
  4. Lastly (I think) I added a few Google ads.  Just so you know, I’ve already earned a cool $0.57, so you may want to consider doing this yourselves!  Sign up at Google Adsense.  It’s very easy and straightforward.

If you have any comments or criticisms (constructive or not, it doesn’t matter) of the changes, please let me know, either in the comments or by clicking my nifty new “Contact Me” link on top.

Visits from Other Countries

Today I had visits from my 89th and 90th countries (Estonia and Bolivia).  They both found me through Google Search and they were both looking for VH1’s Top 100 Songs of the 90s.

You can see a list of all the countries that I’ve had visitors from by clicking on the ‘Countries’ tab above my header or by clicking HERE.

I’ve had visitors from some crazy places like Fiji, Iran, Syria, and Uganda, and places I’d never even heard of like Andorra, Malawi, Micronesia, and Mauritius.

It got me to thinking that I very rarely get any comments from anyone outside the U.S. and Canada.  I did use to get comments all the time from Virgilius Sade, who’s in Australia, but he’s gone M.I.A.

Now that I’m almost to my One Year Blogoversary (11 days from today, be sure to send Blogoversary gifts!), I like to think I’ve become a little more internet-savvy.  These international visitors are probably the spammers that Akismet has blocked from leaving their spammy comments.  I apologize for blocking them, because you all could have found links to sites that have great deals on Viagra, male and female enlargements/enhancements, and porn of all types.

What’s the point of this post? I’m hoping some of you non-spammer international visitors (if there are any) will leave some comments. Maybe we can even become pen pals.

And stop using me for my cool VH1 List. You can go to VH1.com, for God’s sake!
