On Saturday I took Babito to Petsmart to go goldfish shopping.  We’d been talking about getting him fish for a while now.

He was very excited to get his own goldfish.  We looked in the various tanks to find just the one he wanted.  He was being very particular about what fish he wanted to get.

There was a very helpful young lady working there that was discussing all of the fish with us.  Babito showed her the fish we wanted and he started jumping up and down in excitement, until Daddy burst his bubble.

“We also need to get a fishtank,” Daddy said.

The nice lady said, “Oh, you don’t have a tank already?  It’s really not a good idea to buy the fish and the tank on the same day.  The tank needs to be set up and running for 48 hours before you should put any fish into it or they probably won’t make it.”

Oops.

So I told Babito that the fish couldn’t come home with us today, but we could buy their house.  He seemed ok with that, although he was clearly a little disappointed.  Way to do your research in advance, Daddy!

We picked a small 3-gallon tank and a cool pirate to put in the tank as well.  We took the tank home and set it up in Babito’s playroom.

Last night, Mommy and Daddy took Babito, Charlie, and Audrey (our dogs) back to Petsmart and chose two little goldfish, the newest members of our family.  Babito named them Nemo (of course) and Bubba.

Now Daddy just has to remember to feed them.
