The Disneyland Resort has a great selection of fun shows and attractions that toddlers will love. If your toddler is like the Babito and loves music, there are also many small musical acts throughout the resort that always draw his attention. There’s also some meet and greets where you can get a picture with your favorite characters.

Let’s review some of the best shows and attractions for toddlers:

1. Celebrate: A Street Party!

celebrate

In place of the usual parade, Disneyland is running ‘Celebrate: A Street Party’ which is really very similar to a parade.  The Street Party makes several stops and performs a 15 minute show along the normal parade route. Many of the most popular Disney characters take part and your child is also invited out onto the street to do “The Twist” and take part in a big conga line. There’s two Street Parties daily, usually at 3:30 and 6:30. The Babito loves it.

2. Pixar Play Parade

The Pixar Play Parade takes place at California Adventure daily at 5:15pm. It features all of your toddler’s favorite Pixar characters from movies such as Toy Story, Cars, A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, and The Incredibles. What makes the parade even more fun is that the characters and floats shoot water at the parade viewers, which is great on hot days. Just be careful to protect your camera!

3. Disney’s Electrical Parade

A long-time favorite, Disney’s Electrical Parade is still an amazing parade. And you have to love the music! The Electrical Parade takes place every evening at California Adventure. Don’t miss it!

4. Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage

Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage takes place in California Adventure several times a day. It’s a stage show featuring the characters from several Disney Channel shows, including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Little Einsteins. The show is indoors. There are no seats. You sit on a carpeted floor to catch the 20 minute show. It’s an interactive show that toddlers love, and it gets you out of the hot sun and into air conditioning for a while.

5. Magical Fireworks

Disneyland is currently featuring “Magical,” a new fireworks show that features both Tinkerbell and Dumbo flying high above Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. You have to hand it to Disney, they put on the best fireworks shows around. The fireworks start at 9:25. Many people watch them from Main Street, which gets packed early. We prefer watching the fireworks from one of two places: 1) Fantasyland near the Dumbo ride or 2) The outdoor seating at Plaza Inn. Both of these places are much less crowded.

Here’s flying Dumbo:

6.  Character Meet and Greets

Babito meeting Pluto

There are several places to meet Disney characters.  The Disney Princesses have their own meet and greet area near It’s A Small World.  Be prepared to wait in a long (sometimes over an hour) line.  Outside the Pooh ride there is a meet and greet with Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore.  The lines are usually quite long, but it’s the only place you can get a picture with these characters.  You can meet Mickey Mouse either on Main Street or at his house in ToonTown.  The ToonTown meet takes place at the end of the tour of the house.  You can usually find Goofy, Pluto, and Minnie Mouse either on Main Street or roaming around ToonTown.  Buzz Lightyear can often be found in Tomorrowland.  Woody and Jessie can often be spotted in Frontierland.  In addition to this, there are several other random characters roaming around the park.  You never know who you’ll run into.
