Something’s bugged me about daylight savings time for as long as I can remember, but I’ve never seen the answer explained.
I always hear that daylight savings is controversial and that farmers hate it.
My question:
What do farmers have against daylight savings?
Somebody (farmers?) please explain it to me.
Thanks!

It may be because farmers have to work from sunup to sundown, and when sunup is earlier, they have to get up earlier. Well, it seemed like a reasonable answer.

While I am no farmer, I think I can explain this… The clock change completely messes up their schedules… and they have to operate on one time with their normal lives and another time with their animals’ schedules. Their cows don’t know what time it is. So they have to wake up (technically) an hour earlier to milk them at their regular time.
Ok. Sorry. I realize that was totally confusing. Just google it.

I have no clue, but I will tell you that I hate it being dark when I leave work.

I may be a total dufus (that is such an understatement), but I always thought that DST was for the farmers sake. They they get more daylight during their working hours. Field/crop stuff, not just animals. I’m sure this wasn’t helpful, but it was fun anyway. If you find more info out about this, please post it for us.
