Katelin from Gorgeous Footsteps in The Sand is an L.A. blogger who loves to write about celebrities.  She’s a self-confessed TV junkie with a huge crush on Joshua Jackson.  I’m not even sure I know who he is, but that’s ok.

Katelin is a very happy-go-lucky kind of girl and her blog, where she not only discusses the entertainment industry but her daily life (she just moved into a new apartment with her boyfriend, Matt) and the many fun things they do together.

Check out Katelin’s Gorgeous Footsteps in The Sand.  Her enthusiasm and friendly nature is infectious, and you’ll also know everything that’s going on in entertainment!

Here’s my interview with Katelin:

Daddy Dan (DD): Tell me a little about yourself. How long have you been blogging?

Katelin: I started blogging since May of last year, so yeah I’m technically still a newbie I suppose.

DD: What got you started?

Katelin: Well my friends and I started blogging together and that sort of fizzled out and then I was reading blogs all day long for my job and I thought it would be something fun to do.

DD: Why do you continue blogging? What do you get out of it? How long do you think you’ll continue?

Katelin: I love blogging, plain and simple. I just love being able to share my random Hollywood news and tidbits of my life to my family and friends and new bloggers.

DD: Tell me a little about your blog.

Katelin: I usually like to describe it as: 2 Cups of my life, 3/4 Cup of celebrity news mix together. Add a full cup of humor, a sprinkle of coherent sentences, a dash of cute baby pics and a hint of everything else. Toss in a blender. Serve with salt and lime. I think that sums it up pretty well.

DD: Why should people read your blog?

Katelin: Because who doesn’t want to know all about Keanu Reeves and Violet Affleck? I mean really, you can’t go wrong there.

DD: What types of blogs do you enjoy reading? Can you provide a list of your five favorite blogs? Why do you like these five?

Katelin: I read all sorts of blogs, my Google reader gets overloaded these days but man do I love it. But my top 5? Really? I have to narrow it down to 5? Well we’ll see how this goes.

  • Oh How Lovely – Jamie is awesome. I got to meet her at BlogHer and I’m convinced that if we were in the same state we would hang out all the time. We both have an affinity for anything celebrity and she has a really cute dog that I would probably be allergic to, but still she’s so cute.
  • Free and Flawed – another BlogHer friend. Jenn was so fun to hang out with and I already loved her blog. She’s so open about everything she talks about and I love her geekery, obviously.
  • JQ Lounge – Julie was one of the first blogs I started reading and is still one of my faves. We both love Top Model and she has some of the most fun weekends with her hubby and I love it. She rocks.
  • Your Beard is Good – now I haven’t been reading rs27 all that long but seriously this guy cracks me up. He has some of the most ridiculous stories I have ever and I find myself laughing out loud at every post. Check him out stat.
  • More is Better – Another fabulous California blogger who I am hoping to meet stat. I believe Nicole was one of the first blogs I started reading as well and I haven’t looked back since. She’s had quite the summer working two full time jobs and is currently down to one working at a cookie store that she co-owns and really she’s stellar.

But really you can just check out all sorts of fabulous blogs on my roll. They’re all fantabulous.

DD: What are your favorite “non-blogging” activities?

Katelin: I love going to the movies, watching TV, drinking wine, playing Apples to Apples, hanging out with friends, the usual stuff. And now that I have a new apartment I’m getting a kick out of everything “grown up” like I can do these days.

DD: What is the secret to happiness?

Katelin: Not letting things get me down and trying to find the silver lining in everything. At least that’s what I aim to do.

DD: What is your favorite quote?

Katelin: “People say movies should be more like life, I like life should be more like the movies.” – Myrna Loy. My friend gave me that quote because it was on a tear off calendar on my birthday and it was more than appropriate. I simply love it.

DD: What, so far, has been the happiness moment of your life?

Katelin: Wow I’ve had lots of happy moments. How about I share three. I’ll make it brief though I can already tell this is getting lengthy.

One. Technically two moments. But when my brothers were born I was the happiest big sister ever. When the first one was born my whole family was together and we got to go to the hospital right after he was born and we were all so elated with happiness. When my second brother was born it was just me and the then 2 year old brother and I kept trying to explain to him that he was a big brother, he definitely didn’t understand it, but I will still happy.

Two. The night I won Craig David tickets on the radio. Not even kidding. I was crying of happiness and couldn’t sleep the whole night. I was the biggest Craig David fan EVER (bigger than my love for NKOTB…maybe) and I won tickets to his sold out show, it was a miracle of awesome.

Three. My best friend Matt (now the bf) surprised me and showed up at my college my senior year (I was in Ohio he was in Arizona) and it was the best surprise ever. And the end of his trip we ended up kissing and our friendship started to shift, it was the best, happiest and scariest moment of my life, haha.

DD: What has been your biggest regret?

Katelin: That I didn’t travel the country or something big after I graduated college, I had the money and the time but just didn’t do it.

DD: Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Katelin: Attending the Oscar’s as Keanu Reeves date when he gets the lifetime achievement award, haha.

But really I hope to be happily married to Matt, raising some kidlets in a house that we love and working in the entertainment business still somehow. That would be lovely.

DD: Do you monitor your blog stats?

Katelin: Yeah I’m sort of addicted, haha.

DD: What are your five favorite places in the world? Why do you love them?

Katelin:

  • My parent’s house – as much as my family drives me crazy every now and then, it’s still home and I love it.
  • Berlin, Germany – I went there 8 years ago on a student exchange and it was by far the most chaotic and crazy and completely awesome trip of my life.
  • Columbus, Ohio – as crazy as it sounds coming from a California girl, I love Columbus. Going to college there was the best four years of my life and I love everything about the place, even the ridiculous weather haha.
  • Kauai – I went for 10 days with my best friends from high school and it is seriously one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been. I love it and would love to go back one day.
  • All of California – I’m a California through and through and I just love my great state. Even if we do have bad drivers, smog and elect the Terminator into office, we still rock.

DD:  What are five things you want to do before you die?

Katelin:

  • Ride on a zip line, as scary as that would be
  • Travel to all 50 states
  • Attend the Academy Awards
  • Fill up a passport completely
  • Fly in a helicopter

DD:  Tell us something most people don’t know about you.

Katelin: Both of my middle fingers point outwards due to spraining them both playing volleyball and basketball.

DD: What is it with you and New Kids on the Block?

Katelin: I don’t know what started the obsession really. When I was little I was the BIGGEST fan. I had the lunch boxes, sleepwear, dolls, pins, posters, all of it. So now that they’re back together all of the awe and obsession has slowly come back. I can’t help but to love them.

DD: Baseball question, since I know you’re a big Dodger fan: Why don’t you think it was a good idea for the Dodgers to trade for Manny Ramirez?

Katelin: I don’t really know. I guess I like the idea that it is possible for a baseball player to stay with one team his whole career a la Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn. Granted that’s so rare these days anyways. So I don’t know, hopefully he’ll prove he was worth it.

DD: Since you’re an entertainment junkie….if you could only keep one movie, one TV show, one music album, and one book, what would you keep?

Katelin: One movie, that’s easy Speed. I can watch that movie non stop forever and ever. I love it and I don’t really know why. But it is truly awesome.

One TV show…um that’s a bit trickier. I may have to say Dawson’s Creek. I freaking loved that show and I do own all 6 seasons on DVD, so I could do that I suppose.

One album would have to be Craig David’s very first CD Born To Do It. I could listen to Fill Me In non stop forever, just ask my family they could attest to that one, haha.

As for my one book, would most likely be In Cold Blood. I’ve read that book more times than I can count and I just love it, it’s creepy but so good and gets me every time.

DD: Are you always as happy and fun-loving as you appear to be on your blog?

Katelin: Haha, yeah I am a pretty happy person I’d say. Don’t really try to let things get me down and as Buddy the Elf would say “I love smiling, smiling’s my favorite!”
