VegasDad, blogging at iVegasFamily, is one of the first Daddy Bloggers I came across, and he’s still one of my favorites.  His blog consists mostly of hilarious stories, pictures, and videos of his adorable son, Z-Dub.

VegasDad and his wife, who he calls Hot Momma, are also expecting a 2nd baby soon.  VegasDad is a great guy, and not just because he’s a funny guy or because he grew up in the Long Beach/Lakewood area where I grew up (I never knew him, as he’s a few years younger than me), but he’s also a very loving, caring family man.  He also seems to have a weird fascination with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Be sure to go read his blog and tell him I sent you.

Daddy Dan (DD): Tell me a little about yourself.

Vegas Dad (VD): I’m answering these questions while I’m supposed to be working. Oh, I bet you want more than that. I’m a 29 (plus four) year old father of two Whipino (half white, half Filipino) boys (one two-year-old and one in utero). I’ve been married to HotMomma for nearly six years and we live in Las Vegas (aka Sin City).

DD: How long have you been blogging?

VD: Nearly three years. You’d think I’d hone my craft by now. My current blog is only a few months old. I erased my other one and started anew to provide some anonymity. I got a little freaked out when people started calling out our names in the mall. We were starting to get locally famous and I wanted to cut things off before the paparazzi started getting intrusive. Although, I’m kind of regret it now since I heard Brad and Angelina got $14 million for pictures of their new twins. The Fetus could have scored us at least a couple bucks from a local mag.

DD: What got you started?

VD: I knocked up my wife and as a result our families that all lived in different states were morbidly interested in if we’d survive pregnancy and rearing a child.

DD: Why do you continue blogging? What do you get out of it? How long do you think you’ll continue?

VD: It’s fascinating to me that people as far away as Kuala Lumpur find our family interesting enough to visit the site every day. I got to keep our fans happy.

DD: Tell me a little about your blog.

VD: I’ve billed it as a “revealing look at family life in the City of Sin,” although we’re probably not much different from other families, except for living amongst the plethora of billboards promoting titty bars.

DD: Why should people read your blog?

VD: Because if they don’t they’ll be struck by lightning.

DD: What types of blogs do you enjoy reading? Can you provide a list of your five favorite blogs? Why do you like these five?

VD: I enjoy reading blogs written by other parents. We all share our joys and misery. It’s safe to say that another blogger has it worse than you when it comes to the unpleasantness associated with parenthood. It sure makes you think, “thank goodness that ain’t me!” Other times they inspire you to try new things or experimenting with new ways to address typical parenting issues, such as potty training and discipline.

My favorites include:

  1. Creative-Type Dad
  2. BusyDad Blog
  3. Whiskey in My Sippy Cup
  4. Discovering Dad
  5. Xbox4NappyRash (though he’s not a dad yet, but we’re all crossing our fingers that he’ll knock ‘er up soon)

DD: What are your favorite “non-blogging” activities?

VD: With a full-time job and being a loving husband and a caring father to a rambunctious toddler, who has time for non-blogging activities? Seriously, do people really? If so, share some secrets! I used to go to the gym four days per week before my son came along. I was ripped. Now I have no time and it shows. I have spaghetti arms and chicken legs.

DD: What is the secret to happiness?

VD: Money! Yep, I said it. It’s money. Not let others tell you different. I’ve had money and I’ve been broke. I’m definitely happier with money. I think I need much, much more so I can be really happy.

DD: What, so far, has been the happiness moment of your life?

VD: Besides my wedding day, I would have to say the birth of our son. And since this is a question of happiness, in support of the previous question, he’s our tax credit, which equals more money in my pocket. See…happiness!

DD: What has been your biggest regret?

VD: Completely deleting my previous blog. There were a lot of great memories featured that are forever lost.

DD: Where do you see yourself in ten years?

VD: Sailing the French Riviera in a yacht. I can dream, can’t I?

DD: Do you monitor your blog stats?

VD: Not regularly.

DD: What are your favorite places in the world?

VD: My house is my ultimate favorite, because there’s no place like home. However, we travel a lot and we’ve become very fond of some of the places we’ve visited. I like NYC, San Francisco, Southern California (born and raised), Montreal and anywhere where the ocean waters are clean and blue and the sand is white.

DD: What are five things you want to do before you die?

VD: Hmmmmm….

  1. Win the Nobel Peace Prize
  2. Visit outer space
  3. Witness my son score a Gold Medal in the Olympics
  4. Solve a crime
  5. Spend a day with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and family

DD: Tell us something most people don’t know about you.

VD: I had a tumor in my head when I was kid.
