As I talked about before, Mommy was away this weekend on a Girl’s trip to Palm Springs. It was her first night away from Babito…EVER! I think she handled it ok, even though she did call at least ten times each day to “check in.”
On Friday morning, Babito and I headed down to Disneyland. His Papa and Nana met us there. It was a fun day, not too crowded, and the weather was nice. The Babito and I hit many of his favorite rides, including Teacups (by far his favorite), The Enchanted Tiki Room, Casey Jr. Train (he rode that with Papa and Nana – in the Monkey Cage – while Daddy took a break), King Arthur’s Carousel, Dumbo, Monsters Inc., Jungle Cruise, etc. He kept asking to go on “Pirates, Daddy, Pirates, Yo Ho Ho” but I was reluctant because he gets quite frightened at the start of the ride. It’s really dark and then you go down to drops and last time he about ripped the skin off my arm with his fingernails.
But he was insistent so we took him on it and he didn’t get scared. During the dark part he kept saying “Daddy, it’s not scary,” kind of in a questioning way and I reassured him that no, it’s not scary, it’s fun. He’s been singing “Yo ho, yo ho, pirates life for me” ever since Friday. My parents took off around 6:30, and I considered leaving too, but decided to go crazy and stay for The Electrical Parade at 8:45.
Babito, though tired, was in awe of it and loved waving to the characters and pointing things out to me. As we were leaving, the fireworks show started so we watched that too. Babito already knows the proper “Ooh, Aah” language of fireworks watching.
We finally got to the car around 10:00pm and Babito was asleep before I left the parking structure.
Here’s some pictures from the day:

On Saturday we hung out at the house all day until dinner time when we met up with my parents again for dinner. After dinner we headed over to my aunt and uncle’s house and Babito’s great granny came over to see him too. We stayed until around 11:00pm and I thought for sure Babito would knock out in the car, but he didn’t.
He did fall asleep about half-way home but woke up as I was taking him out of the car. He said “Let’s play train, Daddy” but I took him straight to bed. He decided he didn’t want to go to sleep and stayed up, tossing and turning in his bed until 2:00am. Rough night.
Mommy came home early Sunday afternoon and all was right with the world again.

What a great weekend for the two of you! And the pictures of him at Disneyland are fantastic!
I bet mom really enjoyed a couple of days with her friends!

Sounds like it was a great trip to Disneyland. We took Z-Dub on his second birthday. He did Pirates and the Haunted House and wasn’t scared of either.

It looks like he had a great time. Disneyland is always a blast. The girls and I had season passes when I first got divorced. That way you don’t feel like you have to pack it all in on one day. Go for a few hours every couple of weeks. Of course it helps that I only live about 20 minutes away.

Debbie: Thanks! She had a good time but she was homesick and was happy to see Babito on Sunday.
VegasDad: It was fun. He’ll go on Haunted Mansion but he’s a little scared, especially in the elevator when it goes pitch-black. We ask him after we get off the ride whether he liked it and he says “yes” but if you ask if he wants to go again he says “no.”
Mike: We have the annual passes so we do often go for a few hours or so. Babito has been 14 times already. We live about 30 minutes away.

Babito is getting so big!!! What a cutie he is saying, “it’s not scary.” That’s wonderful mom was able to get some time away. The first time is usually though, but I’m sure everyone was so happy to be reunited on Sunday

Sandy: I thought that was pretty cute when he said that. He’s growing up so fast, both physically and intellectually. We’re constantly surprised at what comes out of his mouth. Mommy and Babito were so happy to see each other, but it was almost like they weren’t apart since they talked on the phone so many times.

Aww, you survived the weekend and sounds like you had a lot of fun too! Wow, so he can handle the Pirate-ride now…growing up fast

Romi: Yes, he’s growing too fast, but this has been a very fun stage for us. No “terrible twos” yet!
