Poor Babito had a raspy cough on Tuesday night so my wife took him to Urgent Care and I met her there on my way home from work. The doctor said that he had an infection in his left ear and gave him a prescription that was supposed to knock out the infection and also clear up his congestion.
The medicine seemed to be working. He slept straight through the last two nights, but this morning the babysitter called and said that he threw up and looked pale and was saying his tummy hurt.
My wife left work and took him to his regular doctor. It turns out that the medicine he was prescibed was too strong for a toddler his age. Stupid doctor! And now he has an infection in both ears. He has a new prescription now.
I feel so bad for him, because you can tell he’s not feeling well. He’s not himself. He was very clingy last night when I was putting him to bed.

We go through that every month with Z-Dub’s chronic ear infections. Although today he came home from school with a stomache flu. I’ll take sour ears over the runs any day.

i find doctors do that a lot! i mean…prescribe stronger meds than necessary.
my dad is vigilant about doing his own research and usually gives me his OWN prescription after seeing what the doctor ordered! lol

awww….poor little pumpkin! It’s hard to find a good doc these days especially when you’re dealing with kids or super-small wee-ones who just don’t get the standard adult dosages…well I hope he’s all better by now!

…but then again I can’t count the number of times that a supposed “adult dosage” has made my stomach twist in knots and caused extra agony ’cause it was too strong…can’t trust anyone these days….just stick to voodoo healing I guess

Vegas Dad: I agree, I’ll take the ears too. I hope Z-Dubs is feeling better.
Libby: Babito’s regular doctor is very conservative about prescriptions. Next time we have to take him to Urgent Care we plan on calling the regular doctor and making sure the prescription is correct.
Romi: Hi Romi! Yes, he’s doing much better now. Thanks!
