Today Iowa caucuses to begin the long process of deciding our next President. The next President will be responsible for resolving (or at least managing) many important issues, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, terrorism, immigration, health care, and the mortgage crisis. Let’s hope that we choose wisely.
To kick off the race, here are some quotes related to politics:
“Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.” – Plato
“Sometimes I wonder if we shall ever grow up in our politics and say definite things which mean something, or whether we shall always go on using generalities to which everyone can subscribe, and which mean very little.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
“Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a close resemblence to the first.” – Ronald Reagan

Pardon my ignorance, what’s the oldest profession?
I guess your post answers the question I just posed in my entry huh. But it’s in the evening, around the kids’ bedtime. Agh.

Sweetisu: The oldest profession is supposedly prostitution. And yes, you should go to the caucus if you can. It’d be good blog fodder at least. =)

I love Reagan’s quote best…funny how presidency came in second to prostitution. I agree, Sweetisu should def go!

Sandy: Hopefully she went.
Nick: Too bad there’s no one of Reagan’s stature or abilities running this time. The closest is probably McCain, but I don’t think he has a chance of getting nominated.

How crazy and random; I read that same Plato quote like a week ago, and I loved it…this is my favourite quote by Plato: “Love is a serious mental disease”…don’t I know it…lol..

Romi: That is crazy. I’d never heard it before I found it for this post.
