Is there really a chance our next President is going to look like this???

The Silliness of the State of the Union Address

Published by Daddy Dan under Politics

Does anyone else find the State of the Union Address silly?  The President is constantly interrupted by applause and standing ovations by the Republicans or the entire Congress, depending on what the topic is.  It drags a 15 minute speech out to an hour.  It’s interesting to see what the Democrats will clap and stand for.  They jump out of their seats when the President thanks the troops in Iraq but sit down immediately when he says the surge is working.  They stand and cheer for renewable energy but sit on their hands when he talks about the need for increased nuclear energy.  It’s all just silly.

And what was Nancy Pelosi doing in the background during the entire speech?  Was that a copy of the speech she was reading?  Why doesn’t she just listen to the speech instead of fiddling with that little book?  It really reminded me of being at a wedding and reviewing the program to see how much more stuff you have to sit through before the wedding is finally over.

Daddy Dan’s Top (and Weirdest) Search Terms

Published by Daddy Dan under Uncategorized

I thought it would be fun to take a look at the top search terms that are pointing people to my site.  It’s even more fun to look at the some of the strangest search terms that are leading here.  Let’s start out with the most popular search terms:

Top Search Terms

  1. VH1’s Top 100 Songs of the 90’s - hundreds of searchers have been led here looking for this list, with dozens of different search terms.
  2. Disneyland Parade/Christmas Pictures - these searches were the highest until shortly after Christmas and have been slowly dropping, but I still get several hits from Disneyland searches every day.
  3. Presidential Candidates’ Wives - by far the most popular is Elizabeth Kucinich, followed by Cindy McCain and Jeri Thompson.
  4. Indonesian Tree Man - most people are searching for photos of him
  5. Toddler Gifts - people looking for Christmas gifts for toddlers

And now for some of the weirdest search terms I’ve seen so far:

  • Christmas gift for Becky - how strange that someone actually put in the name of the person they were gift searching for.  Like Becky is some special person that someones’s going to have a website dedicated to that insists on finding them the perfect gift.
  • I want money - good luck, try a job.
  • You wife wa gator - what the hell?
  • Are large buttocks sexier? - to a degree
  • Cindy McCain’s tongue piercing - strange rumor going around the internet.  She’s 58 years old, a little old for a tongue piercing don’t you think?
  • shoots balls up toddler - ???
  • feeding my skinny toddler - poor kid, I hope they found out how to feed him
  • toddler saying dan - now that would be cool, unless it was from the Babito.  He needs to call me Dada.
  • how to get away with spreading ashes at Disneyland - sorry I couldn’t be much help.  I hope they didn’t find their answer anywhere else.
  • sexy babysitter and daddy stories - no stories like that here!
  • provocative pictures of miley cyrus - nice to know I have pedophiles visiting the site.
  • borracho - which means drunk person in Spanish.  No idea why the search engine led them here, but at least I learned a new word today.

Weird News: UFO Spotted Over Small Texas Town

Published by Daddy Dan under Weird News

ufo.jpg

I’m sure you’ve all heard the news reports that dozens of people in Stephenville, Texas, including a pilot, county constable, and business owners, saw what they said was a UFO.  They described the object as “larger, quieter, faster, and lower to the ground than an airplane.”

At first, Air Force officials said that residents may have seen an illusion caused by two commercial airplanes and reflections from the setting sun.  Now they’re saying that fighter jets were training in the area during the time of the sitings.  Residents disagree, saying what they saw was definitely not airplanes.

What do you believe?  Do you believe in UFOs?  Is the government covering up their knowledge of UFOs?

Personally, I don’t believe in them.  Why didn’t any of these dozens of people take a picture or video of what they were seeing?  I mean, come on, almost everyone has a camera on their cell phones these days, and not one picture?  I guess I’m a person that needs evidence.  And all the so-called UFO experts you see on TV seem like wackos to me.

On a side note, my Grandma swears that she saw a UFO in her backyard long ago.  She was lying on the couch listening to the CB radio (funny!) and heard two truck drivers talking about spotting a strange light in the sky and trying to figure out what it was.  My Grandma decided to go out in the backyard and see if she could see anything.  She looked up in the sky and saw what she swears was a saucer-shaped UFO.  My Grandpa was already in bed and she didn’t bother to wake him up and tell him about it.  Do I believe her story?  No, I think she must’ve been hitting the bottle that night or something.

Last side note:  Thank God for cable tv, Tivo, and the internet.  There weren’t too many choices for entertainment back in the 60’s if you’re spending the evening listening to the ol’ CB!

Babito Was The Star of the Wedding

Published by Daddy Dan under Family, Babito

billy-reception.jpg

The Babito was the star of my cousin’s wedding reception on Saturday night. He danced all night long, mostly all by himself, even before the real dancing got started. We stayed until after 11:00, and he was still awake and going strong. All of his little cousins were sound asleep. I think the wedding photographer and videographer both took more pictures and videos of him than the bride and groom. The wedding photographer is supposed to have the pictures up on his website by the end of the week, so I’m anxious to see them.

Babito was asleep before we left the parking lot.

By the way, I have no idea who anybody in this picture is, besides the Babito.

Interpret My Dream About Hillary Clinton

Published by Daddy Dan under Politics, Humor

hillary.jpg

I had an odd dream about Hillary Clinton…….

I was at some kind of county fair and she walked up to me and said “Hi Dan (I don’t know how she knew my name), I’m Hillary Clinton.  Are you going to vote for me?”

I told her that I hadn’t decided yet, but wanted to know more about what she stood for.

She told me that she had to go to the restroom, but that if I went with her into the bathroom she would talk to me while she took care of business.  I followed her into the restroom and she went into one of the stalls.  She started talking about her platform but I wasn’t paying attention because I was trying to get the bathroom door locked because I didn’t want to get caught in a women’s restroom with Hillary Clinton (how embarassing would that be?).

This is where the dream gets weird.  She came walking out of the stall with a Dole pineapple whip (like they sell at Disneyland).  She said “Look what I found in the stall.  This is delicious!”

I told her that she shouldn’t be eating that because who knows where it came from and who knows how long it had been in there, but she wasn’t listening to me.  I told her that I had to go, but that I would definitely be voting for her, lying just so I could get away from her.  She thanked me and then asked if I knew where she could get some ribs.   That’s when the dream ended.

Anyone care to try to interpret this dream for me?

My Cousin’s Wedding

Published by Daddy Dan under Family, Babito

Tomorrow night we’re going to my cousin’s wedding.  I can’t believe that she’s getting married.  It seems like yesterday that she was about The Babito’s size and my Mom was babysitting her.  We used to play with her before and after school and teach her all kinds of bad things.  Now she’s all grown up, just graduated from Long Beach State and is working for Yamaha’s marketing department.  How time flies.

We found a little black suit for The Babito to wear to the wedding.  It’s very similar to the one below, except he’s wearing a red and black clip-on tie.  I’m going to wear a black suit as well, and my wife bought me a tie that looks just like his (except it’s not a clip-on, darn it!).

The wedding doesn’t start until 6:00pm, with the reception immediately following.  It’ll be nearing The Babito’s bedtime around the time the reception gets started, so I’m a little worried about how he’s going to act.  Not taking him is definitely NOT an option, as we have a lot of relatives coming that rarely get to see him.  I’m hoping we can get him to sleep in a little tomorrow and to also take a LONG nap tomorrow afternoon, so he won’t be tired.
