I know this is a very cliche resolution.  Everyone always adds this resolution to their list, the gyms rake in the cash in January and are packed until February, when most people quit.  So, I’m adding this to my list again this year, but this time I think I’ll be able to stick to it.  Why do I think I can do what I haven’t been able to do in the past?  Three reasons:

  1. I have an addictive-type personality – If I can just force myself to go on a regular basis for at least a month I’m hoping to get addicted to going.
  2. I’m going to work out at work during lunch – My work has a very nice gym in the building.  I used to work out there regularly, either going in the morning before work or right after work.  I think that was my downfall in the past because there were always excuses to miss work.  In the morning, I would sleep in too long or traffic was bad or I had an early meeting.  In the evening, I would have to work late or have somewhere to go after work.  I plan on working out right at the beginning of lunch and then eat my lunch at my desk afterward.  I eat at my desk now a lot anyway, so it won’t be that much of a change in my routine.
  3. I really, really WANT to get in shape – I’m not getting any younger and the older you get the harder it is to get back into shape, so I need to do this now before it’s too late.
