The things you run into here on the internet……..I was looking around at the latest posts on Wordpress.com. I found this one in the parenthood category and had to share it. All I can say is thank God for my wife.
Apparently, this guy was posting about getting his cable installed and the problems getting it to work. Here’s a quote from his post:
“The good news is that after 5 attempts Time Warner Cable was finally able to hook up our cable, phone and Internet connection. That fiasco started with a bad phone call and ended with Barbara – yeah that one – screaming into her cell phone at 5pm yesterday and then throwing it across the kitchen causing it to shatter.”
His wife (I’m assuming so at least) is the only one to comment. And what a comment it is. Glad I don’t live in that house. Check it out here.

In our defense – it was an extraordinarily frustrating experience with the cable company. We are wonderful people with tremendous sense of humor and four amazing children. We are high school sweethearts for 20 years, and have stayed together despite 12 years in the Army, combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, having a special needs child, and a society that tells us that having four kids and putting family first is wrong. You take one incident that was blown out of proportion for comedic effect (my wife is the most gentle soul in the world and NEVER loses her temper) and used that to make a sweeping judgment like you are glad you don’t live in our house. Dan, if what you do is spend your spare time trolling the Internet looking to judge people you don’t know than I am glad that you don’t live in our house either. It is a shame though, because it is a wonderful place, and you seem like a nice guy who shares the one value we hold most dear – an overwhelming dedication to our children.
If you want to no more about the real people behind what you read, read the whole blog, or email me at finkenwalde@gmail.com. Heck, you could even call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx. I am a stay-at-home dad and my cell is always on. So call. get to know us. Then decide who we are and what we are about.

Finkenwalde: Just to start, I definitely don’t spend my time trolling the internet look to judge people I don’t know. After getting your comment I had to go back to read exactly what I said about your post. I thought your wife’s response was funny, and I kind of figured her response was tongue-in-cheek, but I wasn’t sure. Anyway, when I said “I’m glad I don’t live in that house.” I was referring to her being angry with you for writing something about her that wasn’t really flattering. Maybe I should’ve said I’m glad I’m not in that house TONIGHT and it wouldn’t been more accurate.
I actually did read more of your site while I was there and saw that you were a stay-at-home Dad and that you have a son with special needs. I also saw your adorable kids in their Halloween costumes. I could tell that the post I pointed to didn’t reflect your everyday life.
Anyway, you said that your post took one incident and blew it out of proportion for comedic effect, your wife made it even funnier with her comment, and I thought it’d be funny to point it out to my readers. I didn’t mean to offend you, and if I did I apologize. Thanks for your service to our country. I’m editing your post to take out your phone number. There’s some crazy people here on the internet (Romi) and I wouldn’t want them to call you at all hours of the night.

Dan,
I hope you kept the number. I would love for you to call. I hope you and Mrs. Dan and Babito have an awesome day!

I just have to giggle at how people get “upset”(I know there is another word for this, it’s just not coming to mind) by what they read…things are taken the wrong way alot when read online,…. but if it was being spoken, it would have came out alright.
I knew what Daddy Dan was trying to say, because when I read the response to the post in question, I thought to myself “oh boy, someone is in the dog house tonight!”

I just want to echo Dan’s comments about thank God for my wife. My wife is currently a stay-at-home mom. How she does it, I have no idea. I consider myself a pretty involved dad, I always help with dinner time, baths, bedtime, medicine, etc. But sometimes on Saturday she goes to have coffee with a friend and leaves me with the kids from about 9am to 11am or noon. I have to say, by 11am I am counting the minutes until she gets home to help me. I don’t know how you moms do it being at home all day. I never complain about going to work because I think my wife has it harder than I do. If I need to take a 5 minute break at work, I can. My wife doesn’t even have that luxury.
thank God for my wife.

Sometimes us dads stay at home all day, too!

DD – What kind of ruckus are you causing?? I want you and the Finkenwaldes to get together soon to have dinner. I will be the server, and Virgilius will be the cook.

Woah. Drama over at Daddy Dan’s place!

abarclay12 -
I am always in the mood to not cook, so you and Virgilius should come over anytime!

Becky: I didn’t mean to cause such a fuss, really!
Mommyca: I’m glad someone knew what I was aiming at. It is difficult to tell sometimes what tone or meaning people have behind their words.
BC: Thank God for all of our wives. They have a tough job. Thank God for stay-at-home dads too. I don’t think I could do it. Stay-at-home parents have the toughest (but most rewarding) jobs in the world. And the pay sucks too!
Abarclay: I am causing some problems today, aren’t I. I think you and Romi have been bad influences on me. Looking forward to the dinner date. I wonder if Virgilius knows what he’ll be cooking? I can’t believe he hasn’t chimed in yet.
VG: Big time.
Finkenwalde: Thanks for the nice wishes. We did have an awesome day. Hope you did too.

Daddy Dan dredging up drama!
#13 by Daddy Dan on November 12th, 2007
Nanette: I’m such a troublemaker! =) I’ll probably end up getting banned from wordpress.com if I keep this up!

I blame Romi.
#15 by Daddy Dan on November 14th, 2007
Me too. Where is she? I thought she’d have had something to say about this, or at least stick up for me. Some pal she is! Just for that I’m going to boycott her Next Top Model posts!
#16 by romi41 on November 15th, 2007
Haha…oh so NOW I see where your “boycott of Top Model” is coming from”….well firstly, in my defense for not being here, these 15 comments have basically summarized me as such:
A: don’t give Romi your phone #, ’cause she’s a psycho
)
B: Romi is a bad influence on Daddy Dan
C: Abarclay blames Romi for various problems i.e. Global Warming and Child Poverty (
D: Romi is a bad pal
WELL………this is all very enlightening.
Despite other ways in which I will get back at you all eventually, for now I will address this post:
-Indeed, I totally get where Daddy Dan was going with this; before even reading any of the comments, I was laughing to myself, picturing comical spousal-sparring, and remembering why I’m happy to be a single-slut (lol..just joking!)
That being said, I clicked over to Finkenwalde’s blog and it seems pretty funny; I’ll be heading back there, and in the meantime, I’m glad you two reconciled. I can’t wait to come over and be a server at your dinner party; Barclay and I will wear matching white blouses and bow-ties, ’cause I think that’s very professional.
As for the cooking, Virgilius is wholly responsible for that

Romi: The bow-ties do sound very professional! Thanks for adding that special touch to our big night! And, as always, thanks for your support!
