Valley Girl has tagged me, among others, with a meme. This is my first one, so bear with me. I’m supposed to give six interesting facts about myself, so here goes:
- I met my beautiful wife through my Dad. About two years before we met my Dad hired her into his department. (we work for the same company). He tried to get me to meet her for a long time, but who wants to be set up by his Dad? Finally, we met at a Company softball tournament and the rest is history. My wife says that when he interviewed her he was really interviewing for a daughter-in-law. I’m grateful that he hired her. Moral: If your parent wants to set you up, let them do it.
- We named the Babito after his Grandpa, who was named after his Grandpa.
- I’m a night owl who doesn’t need much sleep to function. I usually only get 4-5 hours of sleep a night.
- I’ve become addicted to blogging. I check my stats and comments WAY too often. I need help. But I don’t let blogging interfere with my time with the Babito. No blogging from the time I get home from work to the time Babito’s asleep in his bed. I value my time with him more than anything.
- I’m an overprotective father, but I think I’m starting to get a little better. I used to check on Babito in his crib many times each night. Now I only do it a few times. Also, I act like no one else (besides my wife) knows how to handle a baby. I’m nervous when other people are holding him or watching him.
- My personal goal in life is to write a book and become a best-selling author. I just don’t know yet what I’m going to write about.

Shoeaddict- There’s no direct pictures of him here, to protect him. Unfortunately people like to steal pictures of kids and use them on other sites (some sick ones) so I took most of the pictures down.

Romi: Thanks, but I definitely didn’t pick that outfit. It was all my wife’s choosing. I would’ve gone for something a little more manly like a racecar driver or football player.

DD. I’ve thought long and hard about this.
1. I have about 7 boxes of cereal in my pantry right now, and half of them are stale. I continuously buy cereal, but I don’t eat it with milk. But after about 5-7 handfulls, I get sick of it and move on to a new box. Favorite flavors include: Rice Chex, Frosted Mini-Wheats, Apple Jacks, and Oh’s.
2. My father was an Indy car driver, but he crashed while he was trying to qualify for the Indy 500 about 8 years ago. They called him “The Snail.” He also once wrote a book on the cost of raising children.
3. I use my computer mouse backwards. I don’t know why it annoys so many people. I don’t have a problem with it, but my students think it’s werid. Whatever, I think they’re weird.
4. I studied for my Masters in English Lit. at the University of London.
5. I played college soccer for UC Berkeley for about three years. However, I was ususally never in the “starting 11.” But I learned to love the bench. Sometimes we were so certain we’d never get in games, we’d bring sandwiches and other snacks to enjoy while we watched the game.
6. I have an all-black pug that I ADORE more than anything. His name is Mug. He replaced the boyfriend I had of 9 years, who left me for “work.” By “work,” I mean another girl. I think I got a good trade.
7. I have the most outrageous sweet tooth EVER. I hoarde candy, I love it so much. I have it stashed all over the house. I love tootsie-pops and lemonheads the best, but I DO NOT CHEW GUM. That’s weird, huh?
8. I want to be a paid writer more than anything. I love blogging so much, and I have 4 huge poster boards full of ideas (mostly inappropriate) of stuff to write about. I taped these boards to the wall behind my computer, where I write. I put a lot of pressure on myself to write.

Wow Leaky,
That’s an impressive list! We have some things in common. I too love candy, especially lemonheads (and sour patch kids), and I have a relative (my mom’s cousin, but we call him Uncle) that used to race Indy Cars in the late 70’s, early 80’s.
What do you mean you use your mouse backwards? The buttons are facing you? That is weird. I just tried it, it’s like the joystick on an airplane. I’m sure it wouldn’t take long to get the hang of it.
Lastly, you SHOULD be a paid writer, you’re definitely that good. What would you like to write? Novels, articles, instruction manuals?
