October is the best time of year for sports fans. Baseball playoffs, college and NFL football, and the start of the hockey season.
The Angels start their run to the World Series today. It’s going to be tough because they’re playing the Boston Red Sox in the opening round. They haven’t had much success against them this year, but everything can change in the playoffs! Go Angels!!!

best of luck with vlad hurting and matthews out. reggie willits is not much of a replacement after the series he’ll have to go back to living in his batting cage.

Yes, but Juan Rivera is back. I’d like to see him in the lineup instead of Willits. You’re right about Lackey historically, but I’m hoping he’ll improve his performance tonight.

The Angels I don’t think are healthy enough to beat Boston. If Vlad was healthy, Anderson healthy, Figgins healthy, Mathews healthy and Colon healthy they would be real tought to beat, but they are not. Reggie Willits doesn’t strike fear into the hearts of the Sox pitching staff and Vlad won’t see anything good to hit. The Angels pitchers will have to be darn near perfect because they don’t have the offense to come back if they fall behind early and often.
Sox Sweep. Jared Weaver pitches like Jeff did in 2003.

You both may be right, but anything can happen. Sometimes it’s the most unlikely of players that becomes a hero.

Do the Angels plan on showing up for Game 2 or were the replaced by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays when I wasn’t looking?
It’s a long series and anything can happen back in Anahiem or Dice-K could blow up tomorrow.

Well, they didn’t show up yesterday, did they. I think it’s a pretty big dropoff from Beckett to Dice-K, though the Angels have never faced him so that gives him an advantage. I’m actually more comfortable with Escobar than Lackey, at least against Boston. Anyway, Game 2 is a must-win for the Angels.

I am a Red Sox fan and I agree that things would be a lot closer if the Angels were healthy but it would not be a given. I think you are under estimating Dice-K and Schilling. NO ONE last night under-estimated Lackey. We knew that on paper things were too good to be true (with all the Angels injuries)
No one is counting out the Angels in Boston. NO ONE except maybe the media but they are just a bunch of trouble makers and should be ignored.
It was very telling last night when the Red Sox didn’t get a hit after the third inning and don’t for a second think we don’t know our hitting leaves a lot to be desired.

K-Rod – KABOOM! Welcome to Manny being Manny. Now who are the Angels going to pitch to, Ortiz?
This series is over, sure the Angels are coming home but they have a tall task in beating Shilling in Game 3 and then Josh Beckett in Game 4 on normal rest and someone who has actually pitched much better on the road. The Sox own Lackey and can wait out Escobar. They will also hit Weaver.
Then Angels are at just not 100%, if they were this series would be even 1-1 or even the Angels up, but such is life. At least they can’t blame the bugs caused them to lose.
