The babysitter was closed Friday due to some construction on her house.  Since my wife used most of her vacation days to take off as long as possible after Babito’s birth, I volunteered to take a vacation day and stay home with him.  I decided to take him to Disneyland, since we have annual passes and it was a beautiful day.

It was fun.  The weather was mid-80’s and the crowds were light (the longest line was maybe 10 minutes).  We hit most of the kid-friendly rides, including the carousel (3 times), Dumbo, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Buzz Lightyear, and The Pirates of the Carribbean (a little scary, but he made it).  He loved the Tiki Room.

The only thing I didn’t think about was the diaper changes.  Now I do my share of diaper changing, but it’s always been at home.  I’ve never had to change a diaper in a public restroom, for example.  My wife has told me the horror stories…..he HATES public restrooms….he screams whenever a toilet flushes.  I’ve heard him from our table at restaurants.  It sounds like he’s being tortured.  Well, I must have missed that stage, because thankfully it was incident-free.  I think the rolls of toilet paper hanging directly over the changing table may have helped because they kept him occupied.

Overall, it was a great day.  We ended up staying almost 10 hours, much longer than I’d planned.  I’ll post a few pictures later on.  The babysitter is closed again this Friday, so I’m looking for another activity.  Any ideas?  I’m thinking about taking him to the L.A. County Fair.  I’ve heard it’s nice, at least if you clear out before dark.  If anyone’s been, please fill me in.  Would a 1-year old have a good time?
